Bolivian authorities torched a cocaine laboratory—which had the capacity to produce 400 to 500 kilograms of the drug monthly—located in the Andean country’s central region, the Taskforce to Fight Drug Trafficking reported on Aug. 31. The laboratory was discovered on Aug. 28 in the Santa Cruz department jungle. Authorities estimate that this bust represents an economic blow to the drug trafficking economy of $800,000, Bolivian Social Defense and Controlled Substances deputy minister Jaime Mamani said.
