Australian employees will have the right to ignore their bosses outside working hours from next Monday when a new law comes into effect that enshrines the “right to disconnect.”

Passed in February, the law protects employees who refuse to monitor, read, or respond to company contact outside work hours.

Similar regulations allowing employees to turn off their mobile devices have already gone into effect in France, Germany, and other European Union countries.
