A U.S. Army soldier stationed in Hawaii has been placed into military custody, following the disappearance of his pregnant wife.
Mischa Johnson, who was six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, went missing at the end of July.
“An individual has been placed into military custody in the Mischa Johnson missing person case,” the Army’s 25th Infantry Division said in a post on social media on Aug. 19.
“Mischa Johnson’s husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, is currently in military pretrial confinement in Hawaii.”
There has been no additional information on whether Dewayne Johnson has been charged under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.
Mischa Johnson is 19 years old and described as a Filipino woman who is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. She has a large dragon tattoo on her back.
She was last seen inside her home at Schofield Barracks, O’ahu, Hawaii, on July 31. She was reported missing to the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on Aug. 1, which has been investigating her disappearance in a joint effort with local law enforcement agencies.
“As a result of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) actions dating back to when Mischa was reported missing, U.S. Army Hawaii officials currently assess no threat related to this ongoing investigation to Schofield Barracks and the U.S. Army Hawaii communities,” the division said.
“We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact CID.”
A $10,000 reward has been offered for information regarding the case.
According to the Military Division, Dewayne Johnson, from Frederick, Maryland, enlisted in the Army in November 2022, and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division as a Cavalry Scout in June 2023.
He previously attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Moore, Georgia.
Military officials went on to say in the post that all efforts are being made to locate Mischa. The investigation remains ongoing.
“Our efforts remain focused on locating Mischa, support to her family, and the safety and security of all personnel at U.S. Army Hawaii installations,” according to the statement.
“We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact CID.”
