Generally, consumers cannot gain access to apps except through the Google Play and Apple App stores. The Biden administration released a new report on Feb. 1 that suggests legislation is needed to give app developers and consumers more choices than these two stores and to drive up competition and lower app prices. But Apple argues that its app store and rules protect users from dangerous apps.
