Three people from Ohio have been arrested after a 6-year-old boy was restrained and attacked by a pit bull, authorities said.
“On Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 5:06 p.m. the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office for received a 911 call for a squad to be sent to 23 Chapel Street, Savannah, Ohio,” the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office said a news release on Aug. 20. “Dispatchers were told that a pit bull had bitten a 6-year-old child on the neck and ear.”
The boy was in “serious condition” when they arrived and was airlifted to a local hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigation later revealed that the child’s hands and feet had been handcuffed when the dog attacked him, which was established after authorities conducted a search of the property, the release said.
The child’s mother, who police identified as Angelina Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, was living at the property with a family member of the owner of the home and dog. The dog’s owner was identified as Robert Michalski, according to the release.
Authorities initially believed Michalski and his dog were not at the residence. However, both were later found hiding in a cubby hole upstairs at the house, police said in the release.
Both Williams and Michalski were immediately detained and taken to jail by authorities.
Police said in the release that the pit bull was also “taken in to custody to be housed as a vicious dog.”
A third person, who police said was the mother’s boyfriend, and who was alleged to have been complicit in restraining the boy, was also taken into custody. Police identified the man as Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown.
