Four people are dead, and two are injured after a vehicle driving on a Dallas freeway crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles, a Dallas Police Department spokesperson told NTD via email.

Officers responded to a three-vehicle crash around 1 p.m. in the 9500 block of northbound Interstate 45 on Sept. 14, police said.

Preliminary investigations show a vehicle traveling north on I-45 crashed into a second vehicle, crossed the median onto southbound traffic, hit two more vehicles in the southbound lanes, crashed into the guardrail, and flipped over.

The report states three people inside the first vehicle died at the scene, and one driver from the southbound vehicle died at a hospital.

Two remaining drivers were hospitalized, and their condition remains unknown, police added.

Names of the individuals killed and injured were not immediately released, and the investigation remains ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
