Animals at a zoo in Rio de Janeiro were getting cold treats during a mini heat wave on Sept. 22. While it was technically still winter in Brazil, with spring officially starting the next day, a heat wave saw humans and animals alike eagerly greeting any chances to stay cool.
The heat wave, also seen in other southern continents like Australia, started being felt in Brazil since the beginning of the week, linked to the settling in of El Nino conditions in the Pacific Ocean.
