Chinese Banks Freeze Deposit Money, Trigger Protests

In recent days, some one hundred people took to the streets to protest in China’s Henan province. They gathered in front of the province’s Bureau of Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission—despite soaring temperates of 104 degrees.

The problem? Banks in the area aren’t allowing customers to withdraw their own money. Now—the demonstrators are demanding their money back—and a meeting with the head of the Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.
