In a major move for international relations, Canadian authorities have released Chinese telecom giant Huawei’s CFO, Meng Wanzhou.
And on the other end, Chinese authorities released two detained Canadian citizens dubbed Canada’s “two Michaels”—Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.
Given the close proximity of the releases, some analysts are describing the move as Chinese hostage diplomacy.
