Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) spoke about cancel culture and the environment it has created in the United States. He said, “In the land of the free and the land that invented free speech, people are afraid to speak out.”
On censorship, Burgess said, “China is, of course, very rigid in its enforcement of censorship, and unfortunately, our Big Tech companies sometimes seem all too willing to go along with those restrictions that those totalitarian governments are putting forward. Again, we need to keep it in the hands of the people. People need to be able to see, understand, and react.”
