Private Money in Elections Increasing Potential for Manipulation, Chance of Reaching a Desired Outcome: Law Reform Expert

Conservatives in many states are pushing for private money to be outlawed from elections. NTD speaks to Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation, who says that “every state should ban this kind of private funding of election offices,” as it “raises tremendous conflicts of interest.

“Frankly, Congress should pass a similar ban that applies to federal elections, that doesn’t allow private donors to give money to those election officials who are administering federal elections,” he said. “That’s really the solution to this.”
