Al Jazeera Shutdown to Further Sideline Hamas-Sympathizer Qatar After Its Failed Negotiations: Analyst

Israel’s army is ordering tens of thousands of people in the city of Rafah to start evacuating on Monday. This comes after Hamas ended cease-fire talks in Cairo on Sunday.

And at the same time, the Israeli government is expelling the Qatar-funded Al Jazeera media organization from Israel. The Israeli parliament passed a law allowing the station’s temporary closure on Sunday.

Israeli officials cited the network’s threat to national security. Authorities confiscated broadcast equipment in Jerusalem, and Israel is removing the channel from cable and satellite platforms, as well as blocking its websites.

NTD spoke to David Wurmser, a Middle East affairs analyst at the Center for Security Policy, for his take on the ban, and what it could mean for Israel’s relationship with Qatar.
