The Arizona State Senate repealed an abortion ban from 1864 on Wednesday. The state’s Supreme Court had recently upheld the law, which banned all abortions—except when the mother’s life is at risk. Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is expected to sign the repeal immediately, but it’s possible the near-total abortion ban could be in effect until after the general election in November.

Over 1,000 protesters have been arrested on campuses across the country in recent days. The mayor of New York City and the NYPD gave an update on the situations at Columbia University and New York’s City College.
